Tour 431:
White Waters of Sayans

Duration: 9 days / 8 nights
Classification: Rafting Tour
Group size: 6-12 people
Difficulty level: Med-High
Prices: from 457 € p.p.

This is white-water rafting at it's best! A 'full-on' 10-day adventure down what is regarded as Siberia's best rafting river. Oka-Sayanskaya river, which finds its way through beautiful Eastern Sayan mountains down towards Tunka Valey has no respect for anyone daring to travel along it's twisting path. The river itself is quite attractive because of its unusual combination of powerful and relative easy of rafting conditions. Magnificent scenery provides background in an area with population less than one person per km?. We pay very special attention to safety which is why we only use the top notch equipment and all instructors are of the highest level. They will not only lead the expedition but will also encourage teamwork and build the spirit throughout the challenges. There are some nice half day treks and fishing all along the way. If you are looking for a challenging, exciting and pure adrenaline buzzing whitewater experience in an unforgettable setting of southern Siberia, then you're on it!

DAY 1

Early transfer (500 km) to the rafting starting point - Orlik. On the way we make a few stops for rest, nice views and traditionally prepared local fish. The road will take us through a picturesque Tunka Valley, along the Hamar-Daban range and its highest peak Munku-Sardik (3491 m.). Set up the camp and prepare the equipment.

DAY 3

Mission briefing, safety instructions and final preparation. First day on water is not very difficult mainly focusing on basic skills and teamwork. 20 km drifting along Jon-Bolok River which winds through an amazing balsamic plato.

DAY 4

Whole day rafting and a short trek to visit small traditional Sayan village for lunch.

DAY 5-7

The most interesting and difficult part of the route along the Orha-Bom canyon (60km). There are almost 100 water obstacles along this part of the route including rapids of 4th difficulty level, and up to 3-meter waves as the river squeezes between sheer white marble walls. We will visit the national art-crafts museum, take short treks and stay at some beautiful overnight locations.

DAY 8

River slowly becomes quieter but the obstacles remain. At some points it passes between vertical rock walls a few hundreds meters in height.

DAY 9

Slowly turn back to the civilization as we float away from the falls and rapids passing by picturesque villages along the banks towards Arshan and reflecting upon nature's power and beauty.

DAY 10

Last day on the water. Dry out and pack the rafts. Transfer to Irkutsk. Traditional dinner in a local restaurant to celebrate the success of the trip.
