If you want to forget which planet you are on and ready to face the challenge, you will surely love Klyuchevskaya group of volcanoes. This tour will take you to one of most fascinating corners of our planet, the kingdom of abundant wildlife, lunar like landscapes and some of the highest volcanoes in the world, without a single soul for hundreds of miles around. We will trek up the high-altitude tundra, cross many dry rivers and creeks, and pass huge fields of amazingly shaped lava flows. We will climb high passes, explore canyons and craters, in the grandiose setting of some of the largest volcanoes in Kamchatka, including the mighty Tolbachik volcano. En route keep your eyes open for some of the rare wildlife including the brown bear, various foxes, moose and plants that actually grow on the lifeless volcanic stones and ash. We will ascend 3 volcanoes in the Kyuchevskaya area including Bezymyanny, Zimina and Tolbachik volcanoes. Camps will set up in picturesque areas surrounded by towering, snowcapped volcanoes including the awe-inspiring 4750 meter Klyuchevskoy - highest active volcano in Eurasia. Finally we arrive at the lunar vehicle testing base where the terrain dramatically changes from alpine meadows to black desert and balsamic lava, a perfect backdrop for a photograph from the moon.

DAY 1

Transfer to Petropavlovsk. City tour with a Museum visit. City hotel overnight accommodation.

DAY 2

Full day driving north to Kozyrevsk village by 6WD truck (8-9 hrs). Lunch in old Cossack village of Milkovo. Overnight in tents.

DAY 3

Cross the Kamchatka river by ferry. Start trekking passed Kopyto mountain towards waterfalls on Baraniy creek. Set up a camp.

DAY 4

Trek towards Plotina base camp at Bezymyanny volcano. High altitude trek in tundra to Studenaya river camp. Some amazing views on Tolbachik volcano. Overnight in tents.

DAY 5

Bezymyanny Pass (1500 m). Trek ancient lava flows. Cross volcanic river bed. Arrive to Plotina base camp at the altitude of 1300 m (5-6 hours, about 12 km). Overnight in tents.

DAY 6

Accent active Volcano Bezymyanny.(3085 m.) Overnight in tents at the base camp.

DAY 7

Trek up to the slopes of Zimina volcano until the icy top for some amazing views. Overnight in tents at Plotina base camp.

DAY 8

Reserve day in case of bad weather. Overnight in tents.

DAY 9

Leave Plotina base camp, over Tolbachik Pass (1500 m) down to the valley (6 hrs, 12-14 km). Overnight in tents.

DAY 10

Trek over Tolud pass (1500 m) and stay for an overnight near the hut on Tolud river.

DAY 11

Ascend the Tolbachik volcano (3085 m). Overnight in tents.

DAY 12

Trek to Lunokhodchikov base (5 hrs). Appreciate the grounds where the first lunar vehicle was tested. Overnight in tents.

DAY 13

Drive back to PK by 6WD truck. A farewell dinner in a restaurant. Accommodation in a hotel.

DAY 14

Visit the souvenir shops and sea food market in the morning. Transfer to the airport for your departure home.
