Metropol
The Hotel Metropol was founded in 1905 as part of the grandiose project of the famous philanthropist and patron of the arts Savva Mamantov. He intended the complex to contain hotels, exhibition halls, restaurants and a theatre in the centre of the city.
The Metropol is among one of Moscow's finest examples of Art Nouveau due to the fact that famous artists such as Korovin, Vrubel, Polenov and others participated in the hotel's creation. It stands across from the Bolshoi Theatre right between the Kremlin, a chic shopping area and the cultural heart of the city. Each one of the Metropol's 380 rooms, suites and apartments is different and stand out for the unique furniture and antiques that date back to the beginning of the 20th century. The public areas are lavish and the main restaurant features amazing beauty and luxury: a unique stained-glass roof, marble fountain and monumental lamps.
