Tour 139:
Napoleon's Russian Adventure

Immortalized in Tchaikovsky's '1812 Overture', the battle at Borodino against Napoleon's invading army saw 100,000 men die in 15 hours. The subsequent Russian retreat allowed Napoleon to advance and capture the Kremlin which he briefly held until being forced back to Paris. During this historical tour you will get a chance to find yourself in the middle of this battle surrounded by the enormous 360? memorial painting of the scene. Learn about the Triumphant Arch celebrating the eventual Russian victory and visit the actual battle field 130 km out of Moscow to argue over the tactics chosen by the sides and appreciate the sheer magnitude of what remained Europe's largest loss of life in a single battle until WWII.
